A Massachusetts Institute of Technology economist, David Autor, noted a commissioned paper by two separate Democratic think tanks, the Hamilton Project and the Center for American Progress, "The Great Recession has reinforced prevailing labor market trends that were under way long before the recession."

Other surveys indicate those who are out of work spend far too little time searching for work. The unemployed use approximately forty minutes seeking employment, while spending three hours and twenty minutes watching daytime television.

Instead of deteriorating time, this is the perfect opportunity to learn a new craft or occupation, using online training videos as the medium.
