While the prevention of downloading data to devices may not be feasible, a separation of business and personal data, stored in distinct, dissociated locations is a better option. The business data can now be monitored, and access restricted at a heightened classified level.

As with other means of security, specialized antivirus software, firewalls, and related security intrusion mitigation solutions will have to be put in place to protect smart phones and other remote devices. While smart phones have a higher degree of built in security (provided the smart phone was not jailbroken), the rate of attack is less that operating systems and workstations. Still, an ounce of prevention goes a long way.
